BLOW! (socialcd09)
Club credibility comes from years of inspiration and hard work, and Phil Martin, the creative captain of the Jazzinvaders knows exactly how to get there. From his musical vision, the Jazzinvaders have already reached and touched so many musical lovers globally, from those who dare to go beyond the everyday club scenes, to those who look beyond the spectrum of jazz aficionados. Today, the Jazzinvaders are spreading their message even stronger.
On their second album 'Blow!' the Jazzinvaders obtain new territory, but only to ignite their appetite. They smoothened their suits, but not their music. The Jazzinvaders' horns sound more fierce than before. Or mellow, if that is what the music asks for. On the front, alto-saxman Rolf Delfos hits you right in the face with his bravoure and virtuosity, and he might surprise you as he whispers his sweet notes, too. Jan van Duikeren is easily one of Europe's best trumpet players, combining super chops with extremely swinging solo's, melodical mastery and stunning compositions. Tom Beek's classy and uberfunky tenor-sax sound is one of the most sought after in Holland, but there's no musical place his horn blossoms more than here. Singer Linda Bloemhard adds a special flavor, not only in words and sound, but through her mere presence. The subtle groove and harmonies of pianist Erwin Hoorweg not only tickle your imagination, but also your dancing shoes. The heart of the group in many respects is drummer Phil Martin, with his superb dedication to sound, groove and feel.
Additionally, 'Blow' features some extraordinary guest appearances. The Dutch singer Frank Montis on Day by Day, the English guitarplayer Eddie Robberts (of the New Mastersounds) on Art Mbekie and the Italian singer Stefania Dipierro (of Nicole Conte) on Canção Pequena.
Following their successful 2006 debut album 'Up & Out', that received rave reviews from DJs, press and audiences all over the world, the Jazzinvaders are now ready for their next ride: Blow!
The album was released on Social Beats in the spring of 2008.

Many labels have been tagged to twenty-first century jazz, and not always for the benefit of the genre. People have called it nu-jazz, new-jazz, future jazz, post-modern jazz etcetera. It's not an easy task for someone to find the more pure, acoustic and analogue-sounding jazz of the present. But for all those seekers who haven't succeeded in finding what they were looking for, Social Beats presents The Jazzinvaders!
A few years ago Dutch producer/percussionist Phil Martin did a session at the famous Amsterdam jazz club Het Bimhuis where he blended his beats with the live grooves of Dutch jazz legends The Houdini's. These hardbop jazzsounds combined with some heavy afro and latin beats were simply begging to be recorded and so it happened: The Jazzinvaders were born! After some recording sessions Jazzinvaders released their first 12" (Social1205) in 2005 and immediately drew the attention of many jazz lovers from around the globe. After this, more recording session were admitted to tape and can now be heard in full affect on the Jazzinvaders debut album Up & Out! Expect heavy basslines, killer horn hooks, Latin jazz piano-riffs and a vocal contribution of the Danish jazz vocalist Mette Burild and dutch vocalist Linda Bloemhard. So what about the label that can be tagged to the sound of The Jazzinvaders? Well....we simply call it GREAT jazz... Check it out yourself.
